Safe Use Guidelines When Using Portable Generators

To generate electrical power, portable generators utilize internal combustion engines. The exhaust by product of the burned fuels always contains carbon monoxide. Under no circumstance can portable generators be employed within enclosed space. They must always be stationed and operated outside your work or event space. Carbon monoxide levels can hit lethal levels in just a matter of few minutes.

Position your power equipment away from windows, doors, and vents. Even tiny openings can draw dangerous amounts of exhaust into a confined space. Station your generator where people are not likely to congregate in order to limit exposure to noise. Turn off the generator for a few minutes and let it cool prior to refueling. Do not attempt to fill its fuel tank while the generator is operating or the motor is hot. Check the oil and top that off too while it is shut down. Of course the best thing to do is to trust your power production and distribution chores to the professionals. That is simply the most safe avenue for even the smallest of event planners.
